Scabbarded Tournament 10AM-12PM

All entrants will be limited to fighting with single sword (either one-handed or two-handed). Each combatant must have their sword in some fashion of scabbard. The sword and scabbard must be either in some sort of hanger (sword frog, baldric, etc.) or tucked into a belt. There will be some number of spare scabbards and hangers available for fighters to use. Before "lay on" is called, each fencer must start by standing in the list without either of their hands on their weapon.
There will be two overall winners of this tournament. One shall be the fighter who wins the most fights. The other shall be for whomever enters with what is deemed to be the best scabbard/hanger combination. It is possible for one person to win both. The overall format for this tournament shall be a pooled round robin, with the size of the pools being determined by the number of participants that day.

Intro to Bolognese Fencing 1PM-2PM
Instructor: Sir Logos

This class will lay out the fundamentals of the art of Bolognese fencing. Whether you've been grappling with Marozzo for years, or it's your first time hearing that Bolognese is more than just a kind of pasta, this class is for you.

Bolognese Tournament 2PM-4PM

Combatants will be limited to using either single-handed swords with blades no longer than 38" or two-handed swords with blades no longer than 40". All secondaries (cloak, buckler, dagger, case, etc.) are allowed. All fighters using case will be required to use two swords each with blades no longer than 38". Each pairing shall fight five total (not best of) passes. All passes will use the following scoring system, which can be traced back to fencing (spada di gioco) in sixteenth-century Bologna.
  • Head - 3 points
  • Foot - 2 points
  • All other targets - 1 point
  • Double - 0 points (For the purposes of this tournament, a double shall consist of any time both combatants are struck within the same tempo.)
The overall format of this shall be a progressive points/Swiss style tournament with each round being pairings of fighters relatively matched in points. There shall also be two winners to this tournament with the first being the fighter that has the most points and the other being the fighter who best displays their study of the art of Bolognese fencing.
